BURGER JOINT

Moynihan Food Hall / New York, NY

The burger joint debuted in 2002 as a secret venue inside the former Le Parker Meridien hotel (which has been transformed into the luxurious Thompson Central Park), and soon became a worldwide sensation known for its no-frills New York punk aesthetic.  We were tasked with maintaining this identity in the design of their new Moynihan Food Hall location.  The open kitchen is clad in utilitarian subway tile and stainless steel while the facade of the stall is framed in industrial steel shelving to showcase their ingredients.  We sourced reclaimed, extinct American Chestnut wood for the wall cladding to give the space an aged patina and pedigree.  An integrated light box allows for the rotation of classic band posters to be showcased.
